Keep your fridge full, but don't overload it
Ensure that your fridges and freezers are at least two-thirds full for efficient operation.
Why?
Overfilling the refrigerator obstructs the cold airflow around the products, and thus reduces the performance and efficiency of the refrigeration system. Keeping a refrigerator or freezer at least two-thirds/three-quarters full will ensure they run efficiently and do not overcompensate when cooling. The more air space in a refrigerator, the more cold air can spill out when you open the door.
How?
In open fronted display cabinets, do not load products in front of the air curtain given that it will force cooled air out of the unit, which will consequently require greater refrigeration effort. Note that cold air spilling out of the display cabinet may also reduce comfort levels for your customers and require additional energy use from your space heating system.
