Compass Guidelines
Compass brings together the latest carbon reduction solutions from a variety of providers, all focused on the needs of small business. You can browse Compass, rate and review the available solutions or provide a new one. By rating solutions you can help ensure that Compass stays valuable and relevant to small businesses.
Anyone can register and explore, contribute reviews, add and recommend solutions to Compass. But before you get involved there are a few guidelines you should familarise yourself with:
General Guidelines
You should regard Compass as a public forum, or conversation with a colleague, where you exchange information with your business network. On Compass, you should respect others and their opinions.
Inappropriate or rude comments will be removed or blocked. Valuable comments will be welcomed and rewarded.
Contributions that do not address the topic of carbon and business sustainability will be moderated.If you find something on Compass that shouldn't be there, please let us know.
Acceptable Contributions
You are responsible and accountable for what you contribute to Compass. Do not use the site to defame or slander individuals or businesses. Contribute to Compass with respect for others.
Identity
You can remain anonymous when browsing Compass and its solutions. You must register your name and business details to contribute to Compass. This ensures contributions are valuable and credible to those accessing them.
Interaction with Others
If you add a solution, expect to get feedback. If you are reviewing a solution, be constructive.
Reviewing Solutions
- Talk as a business, don't feel that you need to provide an expert review
- Focus your review on the solution and how it helped you in your business
- Feedback should help other businesses to decide relevancy of the solution for them
- Feedback can also be provided to suggest how the solution could be made more valuable or practical
- Your review should not provide feedback on the solution owner (business or organisation)
Solution Criteria
Anyone who has signed up to Compass can add a solution. You must own the solution or have permission to upload the solution. You can also recommend a solution if you have found it to be useful.
Solutions must assist Victorian businesses in the following areas: • Useful and accessible to small and medium businesses• Resources and information on the topic of carbon and business sustainability • Information that can be linked to from Carbon Compass eg either as a pdf or webpage
Solutions must assist Australian small and medium businesses in at least one of the following areas:• General carbon, climate change and sustainability information• Businesses’ role within a carbon constrained economy• Where carbon is in business • Assessing/auditing environmental impact • Green marketing • Identifying cost savings in a business • Reducing carbon in a business • Funding and grant information • Policy and regulation information
Solutions can be free or fee-based - please read our Frequently Asked Questions for more information on selection criteria.
This is the initial criteria for solutions and will be regularly reviewed to ensure valuable information can be continually contributed to Carbon Compass.
