RHW - Melbourne
About
Rural Health Workforce (RHW) is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to making primary health care more accessible for communities in rural and remote Australia.
We are funded by the Australian Government's Department of Health and Ageing, to whom we provide policy and program advice.
RHW directly administers national programs that:
Target recruitment of international health professionals to meet workforce shortages in rural Australia
Promote rural Australia as an attractive career choice for university health students and urban health professionals
Provide locum relief for rural and remote doctors who need a break for personal reasons or professional development.
RHW is also the national peak body representing the seven not-for-profit Rural Workforce Agncies that operate in each Australian state and the Northern Territory.
These agencies provide recruitment services as well as personal and professional support for doctors working in rural and remote areas.
RHW works in partnership with the agencies on strategies to increase recruitment and retention of health professionals in rural and remote areas.
